How To: Use Your Reiki Stones & Crystals

While I do not sell Reiki, I do send it to some because they enjoy receiving it and because it assists in their releasing of worry and stress. I'm a big proponant for anything that helps reduce stress! So, here's a helpful article on the subject of Reiki stones. Many I know use Reiki stones regularly, but there are some who are curious about the benefits of these stones and how, exactly they help.

Reiki is a form of energy work. Reiki stones are often used in conjunction with Reiki as an energy therapy in order to align one's physical body and energy with the Reiki that one is receiving. The stones correlate with one's Chakras which are the energy centers in one's body, and can also correlate with the intentions or objectives of that energy work.

While Reiki is known as the "laying on of hands," the Reiki stones used in conjunction with the Reiki are referred to as "the laying on of stones." The laying on of the Reiki stones is sometimes used to align and activate the energy centers that are related to your Chakras. When we do, it is said that there is a release of energy that unblocks those centers in your body and engages healing energy, and / or imparts a property or quality contained within said stone of choice. It is said that the stones can impart a positive sense of balance, clarity, peace and a sense of well being.

Apart from correlating the colors, some people enjoy laying additional stones of other properties for specific reasons. For example, if one is dealing with a situation regarding release of negative energy and desires balance, one might choose to add a Rose Quartz along with a Clear Crystal Quartz stone at the Heart Chakra. Why? Well, we know that Rose Quartz happens to deal with all matters of the heart as they pertain to love and relationships but we also know that Crystal Quartz happens to be one of the most powerful healing crystals in the kingdom, so therefore combining these two stones may assist the user in their objectives.

There are no specific rules governing the number or type of stones that can be used during Reiki, however there are some suggestions. Stones may additionally be used during times when you're relaxing, meditating, or using your guided hypnosis or whilst falling asleep.

Additionally, some Reiki stones also incorporate the Reiki Power Symbols which can also be used. Also, stones or runes which are engraved or are marked with specific affirmations, symbols or meaning can be used as well in conjunction with the colored Reiki stones.

Root Chakra – Red

The Root Chakra energy center is located at the base of one's spine and rules one's most basic requirements. If you are having problems with basic survival for example, dealing with one's Root Chakra may assist in feeling more secure. This Chakra is denoted by the color red so therefore, the red Reiki stones should be selected. Simply place one near the top of each of your legs or at the base of the spine while receiving your Reiki. Also, as stated above, one may also add other stones based on preference along with one's red Reiki stones. This is also the location where our Kundalini resides. Kundalini resides here, coiled like a snake and will uncoil and rise up once awakened. This is referred to as Kundalini Rising or Kundalini Awakening.

Sacral Chakra – Orange

The Sacral Chakra color is orange and this energy center is located within the pelvis. This is the energy center that rules sexuality and our fertility organs. This is also the space where Tantra resides. If you are enjoying Tantra or Distance Tantra with another, or if you're interested in treating the sacred energy that resides here, one should select an orange stone.

Solar Plexus Chakra – Yellow

The Solar Plexus Chakra is located within one's rib cage and it rules things such as one's inner strength, courage, confidence and strength. If you are feeling weak or are lacking in personal confidence, then select your yellow stone for the Solar Plexus Chakra.

Heart Chakra – Green

The Heart Chakra is located In the center of one's chest. The Heart Chakra rules all matters of the heart including the area of love and relationships, emotions, feelings and connections related to the heart. One would select the green stone for the Heart Chakra. An excellent companion stone to the green is typically the Rose Quartz.

Throat Chakra – Blue, Teal or Light Blue

The Throat Chakra regards our communication. This energy center is located at the throat toward the back and base of one's neck. One would choose the blue stone for the Throat Chakra. If you are feeling as though you your communications - either verbally or energetically - are being somehow "lost in translation," then the Throat Chakra is an excellent energy center to focus on during your Reiki.

Third Eye Chakra – Indigo or Deep Blue

The Third Eye Chakra is denoted in a deep blueish purple shade of indigo and is located exactly where one would expect it to be located based on the name. It's located where one's "third eye" would theoretically be. This energy center is rooted in esoteric communication, precognitive abilities, metaphysical abilities regarding "sight" and sensing through empathic communication. When someone is seeking clarity, this is the Chakra center that one would look to.

Crown Chakra – Violet, White or Clear

The Crown Chakra is located at the very top of one's head, or the "crown" of the head. The Clear Crystal Quartz is often the stone that is preferred when one desires to connect with the divine. This is also the Chakra center that is most focused on when one desires to receive protective white light or to channel the divine protection of light. It's the Chakra that one would focus on if one desires to receive protection, gifts and abilities, and overall energetic healing.

Chakra Stones: Placement & Use

When we use stones, there are some helpful tips. Here are the tips that will assist you in your stone placement and use.

  • Place your stones starting at the Root Chakra and move upward. This is said to assist with energy flow.
  • If you have energy that needs to be moved upward and out, use stones with the shape of a point, and place that point "upward."
  • Remember to always use the stones which correlate with your Chakra color, and then move on to choosing and placing your companion stones.
  • Choose stones that resonate with your intentions and objectives. For example, Amethyst is healing and dispels negativity and White Jade promotes balance and is excellent for grounding.
  • It is said that if a stone or a crystal that feels good in the beginning but becomes uncomfortable during Reiki, that it's possible that said stone may have absorbed certain energies and feels uncomfortable as a result and therefore should be removed. In other words, a stone or crystal placed on the body may feel good in the beginning, but once it's absorbed energies, it may feel heavy or uncomfortable and will need to be removed.
  • It's believed that Reiki assists in the balancing of the energy of the 7 Chakras. Therefore, one's attention might gravitate toward the correct or needed stone for the objective or purpose.

Reiki stones can be cleansed and charged prior to use, but these can also be used for other things. Some stones can be carried for the purposes of keeping their positive properties with you, and they can also be placed on or next to a candle that you burn. For example, let's say that you have had a really stressful day. Perhaps you need to relax but you cannot turn your brain off. You'd take a nice candle and add some essential oil (such as relaxing lavender or cleansing sage or perhaps an oil I've given you) and place say, a nice piece of healing crystal very close to your candle. It's a nice way to impart the benefits of a stone or a crystal. You might even have a white candle, and you might even carve onto your candle your initials making the candle "your own" and burn it for the positive protection along with placing your healing crystal near you or on one of your Chakra energy centers. I have heard of people doing a number of things for a number of reasons. While that example is not Reiki, it is an example of the ways people enjoy using their stones for their benefit.

I hope this helps you! Blessings xo
